Rosa Parks lies in honor in the Capitol rotunda

Admirers pass the casket of Rosa Parks as it lies in honor in the rotunda of the U.S. Capitol building in 2005. Born in 1913, Rosa Parks was 92 years old when she died on October 24, 2005. Parks was best remembered for the events of December 1, 1955, when she refused to give up her seat on a city bus to a white man in Montgomery, Alabama. Her arrest helped spark the Montgomery bus boycott that became a turning point in the American civil rights movement.
