Emmy Rossum

Actor

Emmy Rossum is the supremely tressed young actress who starred with Gerard Butler in the 2004 movie version of The Phantom of the Opera. An accomplished opera singer, Rossum had a professional career on the stage before getting work in television at the age of 13. After a regular stint on the daytime soap opera As the World Turns, she branched out into television movies, including the Disney Channel's Genius (1999) and The Audrey Hepburn Story (2000, with Rossum as young Hepburn). Besides her star turn in Phantom, Rossum's credits include a small but significant role in Clint Eastwood's Mystic River (2003) and a starring role as Jake Gyllenhaal's leading lady in the movie The Day After Tomorrow (2004).
