Facts about Julie Delpy
Julie Delpy Biography
Julie Delpy is a big star in her native France, though slightly less prominent elsewhere in the world. Like her countrywoman Juliette Binoche, Delpy has a delicate, fair-skinned appearance that is often described as ethereal. (Both had leading roles in Krzysztof Kieslowski’s famous “Three Colors” trilogy, Binoche starring in 1993’s Bleu and Delpy in 1994’s Blanc.) In America, Delpy is perhaps best known as Ethan Hawke‘s co-star in Richard Linklater‘s one-night-in-Vienna romance Before Sunrise (1995) and its sequel, Before Sunset (2004). A graduate of New York University’s film school, she directed and starred in a 1995 short film, Blah, Blah, Blah while continuing to take roles in feature films internationally. Delpy’s other films include Killing Zoe (1994), An American Werewolf in Paris (1997), Villa Des Roses (2002) and The Hoax (2007).
Extra credit
She joined Ethan Hawke again for a small scene in the animated feature film Waking Life (2001).
