Facts about Mark Hamill
Mark Hamill Biography
Mark Hamill has his place in cinema history as Luke Skywalker, the clean-cut hero of the first trilogy of the Star Wars film series: Star Wars (1977), The Empire Strikes Back (1980), and Return of the Jedi (1983).
Joined by Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford as Princess Leia and Han Solo, he fought his way through space to defeat Darth Vader and the evil empire.
The huge success of the films seemed to stunt Mark Hamill’s career for the next decade, though he did star in the kitsch classic Corvette Summer (1978) and the war film The Big Red One in 1980.
In the 1990s he began a robust second career doing voice work in computer and video games and animated TV shows, including Cow and Chicken, Batman: The Animated Series (1992-95, with Hamill as The Joker), Justice League, Robot Chicken, Dragons: Riders of Berk and many others.
Extra credit
Between filming his first Star Wars movie and The Empire Strikes Back, Mark Hamill was in an auto accident that left his upper lip scarred. The filmmakers accounted for the scar via an encounter with a violent snow creature near the start of the second film.
