Mary Crosby Biography

The only daughter of popular crooner Bing Crosby, Mary Crosby is even more famous for portraying the nefarious Texas girl Kristin Shepard on the 1980s television soap opera Dallas.

Mary Crosby was an early bloomer who began an acting career in her teens. By the time she was 20 she was a regular character on Dallas, one of the most popular shows on television. Crosby’s character was engaged in an affair with the show’s popular villain, J.R. (played by Larry Hagman). She turned out to be the answer to the cliffhanger question that gripped TV viewers in 1980: “Who shot J.R.?”

Mary Crosby appeared on Dallas from 1979-81, though the show continued on through 1991. Since then she has appeared in various television and film productions, including The Ice Pirates (1984), Tapeheads (1988, with John Cusack), the documentary Dallas: Return to Southfork (2004) and the films The Night Caller (1998), Queen of the Lot (2010) and The M Word (2014).

Mary Crosby was the daughter of Bing Crosby and his second wife, the actress Kathryn Grant; her parents were married in 1957 when Kathryn was 23 and Bing was 54… Mary Crosby is no relation to singer David Crosby.
