Facts about Jon Hamm
Jon Hamm Biography
Jon Hamm played Don Draper, the creative and womanizing anti-hero of the hit TV series Mad Men, from 2007-2015. The show made Hamm, dark-haired and clasically handsome, into one of TV’s most popular actors.
Jon Hamm was described as a “sturdy, reliable character actor” by the All Movie Guide in his pre-Mad Men days. He had small roles in movies like Space Cowboys (2000, as “Young Pilot 2”) and Kissing Jessica Stein (2001).
On TV, his guest appearance on the series Providence in 2000 led to a regular role on the show for the next year, and over the next five years he made guest appearances on TV shows like Gilmore Girls (2002), Charmed (2005), CSI: Miami (2005), and The Unit (2006).
Mad Men changed all that. Jon Hamm turned heads as mysterious he-man Don Draper, and suddenly he was the Hollywood hunk du jour.
He has since been a familiar face on television — especially in comedy, including the series The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret (2012-16) and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (2015-19).
Hamm’s films include The Town (directed by Ben Affleck), Bridesmaids (as Kristen Wiig‘s rich and oafish ex-boyfriend), Bad Times at the El Royale (2018) and Richard Jewell (2020, directed by Clint Eastwood).
