Babe Ruth in a Boston Red Sox jersey
Babe Ruth wears a Boston Red Sox uniform in 1919. Boston's fabled Fenway Park was built in 1912, so there's a good chance that Ruth was standing in front of the Fenway dugout here. Ruth was sold to the New York Yankees later that year, and it was as a Yankee that he gained his greatest fame. Babe Ruth was born in 1895, so he turned 24 the year this photo was taken. Credit where it's due: this photo is from the National Photo Company Collection of the U.S. Library of Congress, Prints and Photographs Division.
