In this more close-up version of a previous photo, incoming Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy (left) is still chatting with Queen Elizabeth II. This was at Buckingham Palace in London on July 9, 2009. (It's a rare photo where anyone has a purse larger than the Queen's, but Professor Duffy manages the trick here.) A distinguished poet and playwright, Carol Ann Duffy held the role of Poet Laureate from 2009-2019.
