Mister Rogers in his red sweater with the Neighborhood Trolley
Here's Mister Rogers -- Fred Rogers, that is -- the star of the long-running PBS show Mister Rogers' Neighborhood. This photo was taken in 1985, the year that Fred Rogers turned 57. The Mister Rogers trolley was a regular feature of the show: it transported viewers into the Land of Make-Believe, a kingdom inhabited by hand-puppets such as King Friday XIII and Queen Sara Saturday and Henrietta Pussycat, many of them voiced and performed by Mister Rogers himself. Mister Rogers's red cardigan sweater was one of his friendly signature clothing items.
