Kate Upton was born in 1992, so she turned 19 the year this photo was taken. 2011 was the first year that Kate Upton appeared in the annual Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue; she was, rather reprehensibly, named "Rookie of the Year" by the magazine. The next year she was on the issue's cover.
