Kofi Annan becomes a doctor (for the 24th time)
Secretary-General of the United Nations Kofi Annan listens to proceedings as he is conferred with the title of Doctor of Public Service at George Washington University in Washington DC. The date was May 5, 2006. This wasn't a first for Kofi Annan -- in fact, it was the 24th honorary doctorate he'd been awarded since his first in 1998, a Doctorate of Science given by Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in his home country of Ghana. Per Wikipedia, Kofi Annan eventually received 32 honorary doctorates in all.
