Robert F. Kennedy at the 1964 Democratic Convention
Robert F. Kennedy appears before the Platform Committee of the Democratic Party on August 19, 1964. This was the year after his brother, President John F. Kennedy, was assassinated. JFK's successor, Lyndon Johnson, was the Democratic Party nominee in 1964.
Robert Kennedy (also known by his initials, RFK) was born in 1925, so he turned 39 the year this photo was taken. He ran for president in 1968 but was himself assassinated during his campaign. This photo is from the Prints and Photographs Division of the U.S. Library of Congress, part of their U.S. News and World Report Collection.
