Salmon Chase on the $10,000 bill
Salmon P. Chase is front and center on this A Series 1918 $10,000 Federal Reserve Note. The reverse side features a tableau of "the embarkation of the pilgrims." Though no longer made or needed in the electronic age, the $10,000 and $100,000 bills were used back in the day for high-value transactions between banks and other financial institutions.
This serial #1 note was part of the U.S. Treasury collection, which was transferred to the National Numismatic Collection at the National Museum of American History at the Smithsonian Institution in 1978.
