Gwendoline Christie Biography

English actress Gwendoline Christie is the blond warrior Brienne of Tarth in the television series Game of Thrones.

A 2005 graduate of the Drama Centre London, she appeared in Terry Gilliam’s The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus (2009) and the television series Wizards vs. Aliens (2012-13), but Game of Thrones provided the perfect fit. Regal, tough and tall (she’s 6′ 3″), Christie’s turn as a lady-turned-knight won over fans and critics alike.

She then pursued and won the role of Captain Phasma in the reboot Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015). Her other roles include The Zero Theorem (2013, also by Terry Gilliam) and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Pt. 2 (2015, starring Jennifer Lawrence).
