Edgar Wright Biography

Filmmaker Edgar Wright is best known for his comedy trio made up of Shaun of the Dead (2004), Hot Fuzz (2007) and The World’s End (2013).

After a childhood of making his own movies and two years of art college, Edgar Wright released his first film in 1994, the western spoof A Fistful of Fingers.

That led to on the job training directing television comedies, including the hit Spaced (1999-2001).

Wright collaborated with Spaced co-stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost on Shaun of the Dead, a surprise box office hit that led to two “sequels” in 2007 and 2013 (the three are called the “Cornetto Trilogy,” simply because of an inside joke about an ice cream cone).

Wright also co-wrote and directed Scott Pilgrim vs. The World (2010, starring Michael Cera and Mary Elizabeth Winstead), was briefly attached to the film version of Marvel’s Ant-Man (2015, starring Paul Rudd), and wrote and directed Baby Driver (2017, starring Ansel Elgort).
