The story about DNA tests on the relatives of Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler — and you can read that story here — has been (predictably) refashioned as “Hitler was part Jewish.”
What the story actually says is that DNA tests on some of Hitler’s relatives showed a thing that could be indicative of another thing that is “most commonly found in the Berbers of Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia, as well as among Ashkenazi and Sephardic Jews.” That’s not quite the same as “Hitler was a Jew.” But it’s not as exciting, either.
And that’s the strange part. It’s as if we’re saying, “Yeah, he started a world war and enslaved and murdered millions of people, but you know what? He was also a hypocrite!”
