[An update on the twins’ weights: 10 Grams of Baby Fat]
The BBC, People, and Agence France-Presse all report that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are the proud parents of a new boy and girl.
The children are named Knox Leon Jolie-Pitt and Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt, according to Nice Matin, the local paper which broke the story.
Knox seems to be following in the X-name tradition of brothers Maddux (b. 2001) and Pax (b. 2003). The other two daughters in the Jolie-Pitt clan are Zahara (b. 2005) and Shiloh (b. 2006).
The new twins were born by Caesarian section on Saturday night at the Hospital Lenval in Nice, France, where Jolie has been awaiting the birth for the last few weeks.
Nice Matin calls them “Les bébés les plus célebres du monde” and further describes them as “Knox Léon Jolie-Pitt, un petit garçon de 2 kg 270 et Vivienne Marcheline, une petite fille de 2 kg 280.” That would be about 5.00 and 5.03 pounds, respectively.
The Associated Press calls them “million-dollar babies,” saying that Jolie and Pitt have already sold rights for first photos of the pups to an unnamed American publication, with the proceeds going to charity.
The AP says the photos could be worth as much as $20 million, as per Darryn Lyons of the celebrity photo agency Big Pictures. Lyons also provides AP with the quote of the day:
“I’ve never known a set of pictures to be worth this amount of money,” said Darryn Lyons… The only other photos that “would possibly come that close is Britney Spears giving birth to an alien.”
