President Barack Obama channels Teddy Roosevelt as he waves a hurley — the paddle-like stick used in the Irish game of hurling.
The hurley was a gift from Taoiseach Enda Kenny (pictured) after Obama arrived in Ireland for a visit today. It was inscribed: “Presented to Barack Obama President of the United States of America on the occasion of his first visit to Ireland, May 2011 by An Taoiseach Enda Kenny TD.” (The Taoiseach is Ireland’s equivalent of a prime minister.)
Taking a left-handed grip, Obama quipped, “If members of Congress aren’t behaving, give ’em a little paddle, a little hurl.”
