Gov. Bill Richardson of New Mexico has withdrawn his name as nominee for Secretary of Commerce, says NBC News.
NBC says Richardson cited “a pending investigation into a company that has done business with his state” as the reason. The network also says that president-elect Barack Obama accepted the withdrawal with “deep regret.”
