Facts about Baby Yoda
Baby Yoda Biography
Baby Yoda is the hugely popular character from the Disney TV series The Mandalorian, which premiered in 2019. His fate is a driving force of the series as he is first captured, then rescued and protected by the bounty hunter called the Mandalorian.
Known only as “the Child” in the first season of the show, the character was dubbed Baby Yoda by fans due to his close resemblance to Yoda, the wizened Jedi master from Star Wars films. With his big ears, wide eyes and wrinkled brow, he is clearly from a similar species, although the story does not suggest directly that he is himself a young Yoda or is related to him. In season 2, the Child’s name was revealed to be Grogu.
Although Baby Yoda appears to be an infant or toddler, he is described in the series as being 50 years old. At points in the story he uses his mind to incapacitate a beast as it attacks the Mandalorian, or to snitch cookies from a schoolchild, suggesting that he is familiar with the magical power known as the Force.
Extra credit
Baby Yoda was created by Jon Favreau, who wrote and directed the first episodes of The Mandalorian.
