Chris Hemsworth Biography
Chris Hemsworth is an Australian actor who stormed Hollywood in 2011 as the star of Thor, the big-budget action movie based on the Marvel comic book character.
Hemsworth has appeared as the character in many films since, including Thor: Ragnarok (2017), Avengers: Infinity Wars (2018) and Thor: Love and Thunder (2022).
Hemsworth is from Melbourne, and early in his career he spent three years on the Australian soap opera Home and Away (from 2004 through 2007).
He went to Los Angeles to further his career and made strong impressions in small parts in the films Star Trek (2009 — Hemsworth played Captain Kirk’s father) and A Perfect Getaway (2009, with Timothy Olyphant and Milla Jovovich).
Soon enough, Hemsworth was in the big leagues, starring as Thor in both Thor (2011) and The Avengers (2012), as well as starring in a remake of Red Dawn (2011) and The Cabin in the Woods (2011, a Joss Whedon project).
His other films include Thor: The Dark World (2013), Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), In the Heart of the Sea (2015, directed by Ron Howard), Bad Times at the El Royale (2018) and Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (2024, starring Anya Taylor-Joy).
