Fashion designer and perfume maven Coco Chanel looks pensive in this rather severe black-and-white portrait. The image is undated; Coco Chanel lived a long life, from 1883 to 1971, and we're going to guess she was in her 50s here, so that would place the photo sometime in the 1930s. (No promises!) By that point, she would already have been an established couturière and businesswoman for two decades.
