We certainly hope Fred Astaire is not marrying Debbie Reynolds here

We fervently hope that Fred Astaire is giving away Debbie Reynolds on her wedding day here, and NOT marrying her himself, in the 1961 film The Pleasure of His Company. It really shouldn't require a second thought, but you know Hollywood! 1961 was only seven years after they paired poor 25-year-old Audrey Hepburn with 55-year-old Humphrey Bogart (god bless him) in Sabrina. Let's look it up: Fred Astaire, born in the 19th Century, turned 62 the year this film came out, and Debbie Reynolds turned 29. Good heavens, that's only three years more than Sabrina! It's totally possible that they *are* getting married here! We would research the plot of the film to find out, but we're afraid to look.
