A formal portrait of Isoroku Yamamoto

A photo of Japanese admiral Isoroku Yamamoto in his full military regalia. Born on August 4, 1884, he was 57 years old when the planned and led the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. Less than 18 months later he was dead at age 58, his plane having been shot down by U.S. forces on April 18, 1943.
