Jim Parsons Biography
Jim Parsons is the actor who plays the fussy physicist Sheldon Cooper on the TV sitcom The Big Bang Theory.
Jim Parsons began appearing in feature films and on television after earning a Masters degree in theater from the University of San Diego in 2001. Tall, thin and boyish, he landed comic roles including a memorable turn as a “fast food knight” in Zach Braff‘s film Garden State (2004), a recurring part in the final season of Judging Amy (in 2005) and small roles in the movies 10 Items of Less (2006) and School for Scoundrels (2006, starring Billy Bob Thornton).
The Big Bang Theory launched in 2007 and quickly became one of network TV’s biggest hits. As Sheldon, Parsons stood out from an ensemble cast and went on to earn four Emmys as outstanding lead actor in a comedy series: in 2010, 2011, 2013 and 2014.

In The Big Bang Theory, Sheldon Cooper’s mother is played by Laurie Metcalf, the Emmy-winning co-star of Roseanne.
