John Wayne postage stamps in the Legends of Hollywood series

John Wayne postage stamps from the United States Postal Service. Part of the USPS's "Legends of Hollywood" series, the stamps were released in 2004. (John Wayne died 25 years earlier, in 1979, after battling lung cancer.) The John Wayne stamp was painted by famed Hollywood poster artist Drew Struzan, and is said to be modeled on Wayne's appearance in the 1962 film The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance. Others actors featured in the Legends of Hollywood series have included Marilyn Monroe, Charlton Heston, and Shirley Temple.
