The inscrutable Joyce Carol Oates stares directly at the camera during a photo call at the 36th annual Deauville American Film Festival. Oates won the Lucien Barrière Literary Award that year for her book Blonde, inspired by the life of Marilyn Monroe. This was in Deauville, France on September 9, 2010.
