Larry Hagman in ‘I Dream of Jeannie’

Larry Hagman is seen in the role of beleaguered Air Force Captain (later Major) Tony Nelson in the TV series I Dream of Jeannie. The not-at-all-provocative premise of the show was that Nelson was an astronaut who discovered a voluptuous genie in a bottle after splashing down near a desert island. The genie, named Jeannie (played by Barbara Eden), fell in love with Nelson, returned home with him in her bottle, and lounged around in harem outfits, awaiting the pleasure of the man she insisted was her "master." I Dream of Jeannie ran on NBC from 1965-1970; the couple were married, to everyone's relief, in the show's last season.
