TV star and bodybuilder Lou Ferrigno is given his certificate as a reserve deputy sheriff of Los Angeles County on February 13, 2006. That's LA County Sheriff Buca (left) doing the honors at the Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration in Los Angeles.
It wouldn't be fair to say that Ferrigno is an "honorary" sheriff, but it's more of a voluntary support role than an active-duty one: reserve deputies put in 20 hours of service a month for an annual salary of $1, the UPI reported in 2006, citing the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department website. Said the UPI, "Ferrigno will not be out on the street fighting crime, but will help recruit new classes of deputies and work with abused children."
