A Portrait of Mark Rothko

This photo of painter Mark Rothko was taken by Consuelo Kanaga about 1949. Rothko, born in 1903 in Russia, turned 46 years old that year. The photo has been released for public presentation by the Brooklyn Museum, which received it as a gift of Wallace B. Putnam from the estate of Consuelo Kanaga.
