Mary Travers of Peter, Paul and Mary

The 1960s folk group Peter, Paul and Mary are seen in this action photo from that era. Mary Travers is the person in the middle, flanked by Paul Stookey (left) and Peter Yarrow. The group formed in New York City in 1961 and became a major influence on folk and pop in the decade. They split up in 1970, but reunited in the 1980s and regained their status as a beloved folk act.
