Max Von Sydow in ‘The Seventh Seal’

Max von Sydow is in death jail, or so it seems, in the 1957 Ingmar Bergman film The Seventh Seal (Swedish title Det Sjunde inseglet). At left is Bengt Ekerot as Death himself. The wacky film, with a Medieval knight playing games with Death to avoid his own demise, was one of the great arthouse hits of the 1950s.
