Michael Caine stands in concrete at Grauman’s Chinese Theater
Michael Caine looks like he's getting off a quip as his footprints are encased in concrete at Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, California. The date was July 11, 2008. The hand-and-footprint tradition started in 1927, when silent film stars Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks left their prints in the concrete in the theater's courtyard. Michael Caine was born in 1933, so he turned 75 the year this photo was taken. That's noted movie reviewer and historian Leonard Maltin standing at the microphone behind Caine. Behind Maltin is a poster for the film The Dark Knight, in which Caine appeared as Batman's butler, Alfred Pennyworth.
