Nicholas Hoult Biography

After years as a young actor in mostly British television, Nicholas Hoult made a splash as the young lead of Warm Bodies and Jack the Giant Slayer, movies that made the best of his innocent-young-lad qualities. Hoult began his professional career when he was just 7 years old, and between 1996 and 2002 he was steadily employed with British TV. He gained international notice as Marcus, the boy who taught Hugh Grant all about love and life in 2002’s About A Boy (based on the novel by Nick Hornby.) He then played Nicolas Cage‘s troubled son in The Weather Man (2005), but he gained more attention as Tony Stonem in the 2007-08 seasons of the British series Skins, and then as Colin Firth‘s temptation in 2009’s A Single Man. As a young up-and-coming actor, the pale and blue-eyed Hoult overcame misfires Clash of the Titans (2010) and X-Men: First Class (2011) to star in the box office hit Warm Bodies — the 2013 zombie romantic comedy (he played “R”) — and, later that same year, the blockbuster fairy tale Jack the Giant Slayer.
