Parker Posey at the… Lortel Awards?
Actress Parker Posey poses for photos at the 2009 Lortel Awards -- the annual awards named to sound like a budget motel chain. "We stayed at the Lortel right by the interstate, nothing fancy but only $89 plus tax." Yes, OK, we kid. The Lortel Awards (we just learned) are actually a much-admired award for excellence in Off-Broadway theater, named for esteemed actress and theater producer Lucille Lortel (1900-1999) -- much as the Tony Awards are named for actress and producer Antoinette Perry (1888-1946). The Lortel Awards were launched in 1986, and this 2009 edition was held at the New York Marriott Marquis Hotel on May 3, 2009. Parker Posey was a presenter at the awards that year.
