Rashida Jones is an American actress known especially for her roles in the TV comedies The Office and Parks and Recreations.
The daughter of actress Peggy Lipton (The Mod Squad and Twin Peaks) and music producer Quincy Jones, Rashida Jones grew up in Los Angeles in the company of actors and musicians. She graduated from Harvard University in 1997 and set about her own acting career, first breaking out as a cast member in the TV drama Boston Public (2000-02).
Jones had leading roles in the short-lived series NY-LON (2004) and Wanted (2005), then joined the cast of the hit series The Office in 2006, as Karen, the second love interest for Jim (played by John Krasinski). That semi-regular role led to a job in 2009 as a cast member of Amy Poehler‘s comedy series Parks and Recreation.
Rashida Jones has also played supporting roles in the movies I Love You, Man (2009) and The Social Network (2010), and the lead in Monogamy (2010). Beyond her career in TV and movies, Jones has appeared in several videos online for Funny or Die, and she’s the co-creator of the comic book series Frenemy.
