River Phoenix with a way-young Matthew Perry

River Phoenix (left, as Jimmy Reardon) sits with a *very* young Matthew Perry (as Fred Roberts) in this shot from the 1988 film A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon. The coming-of-age film was shot in 1986 and released in 1988. River Phoenix was born in 1970, and Matthew Perry was born in 1969, so they turned 16 and 17, respectively, the year the movie was shot. Matthew Perry later went on to fame as part of the cast of the TV series Friends; River Phoenix, alas, died of a drug overdose at age 23, in 1993.
