Selita Ebanks Biography
Selita Ebanks is something of a rarity: a supermodel born not in Brazil or Germany but in the Cayman Islands. Ebanks grew up on Walker’s Road in the capital city of George Town. She began modelling at age 17 and has since appeared in fashion magazines from Glamour and Marie Claire to Vogue and Nylon. She has also appeared in advertising campaigns for Tommy Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren and Levis Jeans. In 2005 her career took another step upwards when she was chosen to appear alongside established models like Heidi Klum and Tyra Banks in the annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show television special.

Banks, who was retiring from modelling, symbolically passed her Victoria’s Secret wings to Ebanks on a November 2005 edition of The Tyra Banks Show… According to a 2005 CBS press release for the Victoria’s Secret TV special, Ebanks “was discovered at the age of 17 at New Jersey’s Six Flags Great Adventure by Women Model Management” and is “of Caymanian, Jamaican, Irish, Indian, and African heritage.”
