Basil Rathbone as Sherlock Holmes

Actor Basil Rathbone (left ) appears as detective Sherlock Holmes, with Nigel Bruce as his sidekick and supporter Dr. Watson, in the 1939 film The Hound of the Baskervilles. The film, directed by Sidney Lanfield, was one of a series of popular movies with Rathbone as Holmes and Bruce as an unfairly doltish Watson.
