The pair were married in 1961 and rose from traveling preachers to powerful TV evangelists. Jim Bakker was convicted on multiple counts of fraud and conspiracy in 1989 and sentenced to 18 years in jail. He ended up serving five years, and the couple were divorced in 1992 while he served his prison term.
