A portrait of President Ulysses S. Grant

President Ulysses S. Grant is seen in this rather formal photographic portrait. The photo was taken sometime between 1869 and 1885. He accepted Robert E. Lee's surrender to end the Civil War in 1865, and became president in 1868. Grant died in 1885, which is why its a pretty sure thing that this photo wasn't taken after that.
