Brittany Murphy is dead. The actress, who got her break in Clueless and played rough-around-the-edges chums and lovers in films like 8 Mile and Sin City, died this morning at age 32.
Paramedics were called to a home in the hills above West Hollywood on Sunday morning about 8 am. The site TMZ.com claims that Murphy’s mother “discovered her unconscious in the shower” before the 911 call was made. Paramdedics determined that Murphy was in cardiac arrest and rushed her to the “ER to the Stars,” Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead around 10:00 am.
Variety says the call was made by Murphy’s husband, Simon Monjack, and that the LAPD is now investigating her death. Murphy and Monjack married in 2007.
