It appears that Gordon Brown is about to realize his decades-long dream and become prime mininster of the United Kingdom.
Tony Blair has held the office for 10 years, but hinted strongly this week that he would step down soon.
Brown has served as Blair’s Chancellor of the Exchequer for these past 10 years. The relationship between the two men has been prickly at best, as Brown waited impatiently for the job he felt Blair had promised to give him much earlier.
British papers are already speculating about Blair’s earning power once he leaves office, as well as suggesting that he’s leaving Brown a bit of a mess. The BBC has even provided a very helpful timeline of the “feud” between the two men.
Good luck, Mr. Brown!
