This clip has been around awhile, it seems, but we just spotted it for the first time: Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards dealing with a fan who charges onstage.
It happened at Virginia’s Hampton Coliseum in on 18 December 1981.
The concert is #6 on The Daily Telegraph’s list of the 10 best Stones gigs of all time, mainly on the strength of Richard’s lick to the fan’s face. (The paper also points out that John Lennon had been killed by a crazed fan 10 days earlier, possibly putting Richards on edge.)
Of course, Richards also kicked a fan in the face at the Telegraph’s number two concert, at the Empress Ballroom in Blackpool in 1964, sparking a riot.
