Lots of people are talking about the Abraham Lincoln bicentennial on February 12th. But you don’t hear much about today being the 200th birthday of Andrew Johnson.
(Well, there will be a cake at a Greenville shopping center.)
Lincoln was a hard act to follow — and, it seems, to precede. Plus, rightly or wrongly, Johnson got impeached, and that puts a damper on things for at least 200 years.
