Comedian Phil Hartman was born 60 years ago today.
And it’s been 10 years now since he was killed, alas.
We didn’t watch News Radio much, but The Simpsons was never quite the same without Troy McClure and Hartman’s other marvelous supporting characters. “Marge vs. the Monorail,” with Hartman as the huckster Lyle Lanley (and written by Conan O’Brien!), remains one of the show’s great episodes.
Happy birthday, Mr. Hartman, wherever you are.
