Our biography of once (and future?) convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein is now live.
Jeffrey Epstein is the mysteriously wealthy money manager who was convicted 13 years ago of the sexual abuse of teenage girls. (He allegedly paid girls as young as 14 to give him sexual massages… and then paid the same girls to recruit other girls for the same purpose.) Epstein’s proclivities were apparently so well known that his private jet was called “The Lolita Express.”
Despite the seriousness of his crimes, Epstein got a mysteriously lenient deal from prosecutors. The lead prosecutor was Alex Acosta, now Secretary of Labor under President Donald Trump.
Trump is also an old friend of Epstein’s; in 2002 he told New York magazine, “I’ve known Jeff for fifteen years. Terrific guy. He’s a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side. No doubt about it – Jeffrey enjoys his social life.” Yikes!
For that matter, Trump was just one of Epstein’s high-profile friends: former president Bill Clinton and Britain’s Prince Andrew were among many big names said to have accepted Epstein’s hospitality in the 1990s and early 2000s. Kudos go to Miami Herald reporter Julie K. Brown, who brought Epstein’s crimes back into the public eye with a 2018 article titled How a Future Trump Cabinet Member Gave a Serial Sex Abuser the Deal of a Lifetime.
