The world lost a super-sportsman when North Korean dictator Kim Jong-il died.
Kim bowled the first 300 game at Pyongyang Lanes, for starters. Then he went golfing and shot a remarkable 38 under par, including five holes-in-one. This was back in 1994, when courses were shorter, but still. The kicker: it was his first round of golf ever.
At least, so reported the North Korean media.
The Times remembers more of Kim’s sporting exploits.
