Les Paul, Electric Guitar Inventor, Has Died

If you listen to rock, pop, blues, or country music, thank Les Paul.

Paul invented the solid-body electric guitar — the John Deere plow of rock and roll.

He died today at age 94, of complications from pneumonia. He was also an incredible innovator in multi-track recording, among many other inventions, and he stayed active nearly ’til the end. Here he is last year with Joan Jett at the Hard Rock Cafe in New York.

An amazing guy. More Les Paul photos here.
