More on the Larry Craig story:
The Idaho Statesman has now published a lengthy recap of a five-month investigation it recently made into rumors that the Idaho senator was gay.
The research was impressive: the paper interviewed 41 of Craig’s fraternity brothers from the University of Idaho in the 1960s, for instance. The investigation culminated in a one-hour interview with Craig and his wife on May 14 of this year, in which Craig said bluntly, “I am not gay, and I never have been.”
The Statesman says that until now, it had “declined to run a story about Craig’s sex life, because the paper didn’t have enough corroborating evidence and because of the senator’s steadfast denial.” That changed with the news of Craig’s guilty plea.
The political blog TalkingPointsMemo has a copy of the original arrest report.
